During Dean Luis Falcón’s tenure as dean, the number of faculty-led, study-abroad trips jumped from one or two per year to more than a dozen. As he steps away from the dean’s position this spring to return to teaching and research, an endowment has been established in his honor to grow study abroad opportunities within the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

For the 40+ percent of UMass Lowell students who are the first in their families to attend college, international experiences may be out of reach if not for financial support. The Dean Luis M. Falcón Endowment for Study Abroad Programs will help make these experiences accessible to more students.

International experiences have the power to transform the educational journey of students by providing opportunities for personal, academic and professional growth that extend far beyond the classroom. They broaden horizons, deepen understanding and prepare individuals to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and diverse world.
